Letter from Director: "The Tynker programming camp turned out to be a great success; many children (including the foster children) enjoyed it very much.
I would like to thank my helpers: Christina, John, Brian, Ethan, and Emily; John also directed the children to create a project. They have done a great job supervising the children and assisting them with their assignments. I would also like to thank my mom for buying the food (four large pizzas and two buckets of KFC) and Sherry for organizing the event. Finally, I would like to thank Denise and Soquel from the KAFPA program for promoting this event. And of course, the children for attending!
Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not functional, and with the heat generated from the laptops and the projector, the room consistently peaked at 84 degrees (F), a rather unpleasant experience. Furthermore, there were lapses in the program where nobody had prepared adequate instructional material for the students; the students also seemed tired in the afternoon (from the programming and heat) so everyone enjoyed some "free time" with their laptops. Thus, it is necessary to prepare some activities as a downtime for the students. Finally, students were found gaming or watching videos instead of engaging in the course material, so I will also work on improving supervision and discipline.
Overall, the students were very satisfied with the program. We ran into no significant problems. All is well."
